I recently got the chance to shoot a session for this lovely couple, Amanda and Matt! When we were setting up the shoot, Amanda said they would like to shoot at either McKinney Falls or Pedernales Falls. If I’m being totally honest, I was hoping they would choose McKinney Falls. I live a hop, skip, and a jump from it. But they chose Pedernales Falls and I’m SO GLAD THEY DID. I hadn’t been to Pedernales in a couple of years and forgot that it’s just kind of insanely stupidly beautiful. If you’ve never been, I highly suggest you take a little day trip out that way. Maybe stop by Twisted X brewery or one of the many delicious looking restaurants you’ll pass on the road out.
These two were so much fun. When setting up our shoot, I suggested we do some pictures in the water. They loved the idea too, and I’m so happy with how they turned out! We were racing with the sunset and trying not to think about the sweet little friendly Cottonmouth snakes that like to come out at dusk. But the light was on our side and we had a great little session.
But y’all. Y’ALL. I don’t think I realized how out of shape I am until I walked up the multiple stairway trails to get around Pedernales. I’ve heard the most important thing you need to survive the zombie apocalypse is good cardio skills. I. would. be. so dead. If I’m being honest, I’ve worked out once since I was three months pregnant. That’s well over a year ago, don’t try to do the math please. I made Zak declutter the area around our elliptical. I’ve got to be more active. Those stairs (which honestly, weren’t that intense at all) were my coming to Jesus moment.
