Riley Building and Saint Mary’s Host Downtown Austin Wedding

Weddings are a celebration of love, culture, and the unique stories that bring two people together. Sara and Jackson’s downtown Austin wedding was a blend of Mexican and American traditions in a vibrant, fun-filled day. From the elegant ceremony at Saint Mary’s Cathedral to the lively reception at the Riley Building, every detail was thoughtfully planned. Unquestionably, Sara and Jackson created unforgettable memories of their special day.

Getting Ready at The Riley Building Attached Suites

Sara and Jackson began their wedding day at an Airbnb rental owned by the Riley Building. This huge and modern space offered stunning views of the downtown Austin cityscape. In particular, I loved the large balcony, which was the perfect location for first looks and posed photos.

Ceremony at Saint Mary’s Cathedral

The wedding ceremony took place at the historic Saint Mary’s Cathedral. Saint Mary’s is a breathtaking church that added timeless elegance to the day. Friends and family gathered in the beautiful church, eagerly awaiting Sara and Jackson’s wedding. As can be seen, they had a traditional Catholic ceremony.

Wedding Portraits in Downtown Austin

We took classic posed wedding portraits with the bride and groom in front of Saint Mary’s Cathedral. We continued on to take photos of the wedding party walking to our second location, the Texas State Capitol building. When Sara suggested visiting the capitol for photos, I was worried about the logistics. Thankfully, it worked out without a hitch!

Wedding Portraits at the Texas State Capitol

Obviously, my favorite photos of the day are these dreamy and fun photos of the couple and the wedding party at the Texas State Capitol! I, like most photographers, try to avoid full direct sun on the subject. However, these direct sun photos of the wedding party came out so creamy and lovely. Taking the wedding party photos at the capitol ended up being such a great idea!

The Riley Building Reception

Following the ceremony, guests made their way to the Riley Building for a reception that promised to be a night to remember. The Riley Building, known for its modern design and versatile event spaces, was the perfect backdrop for Sara and Jackson’s celebration. Unquestionably, the couple’s wedding planner, Chili with Occasions Austin, ensured every detail was flawless. Soon, the sun set over downtown Austin, and the city lights began to twinkle.

Bride and Groom Portraits in Downtown Austin

Once the couple finished eating dinner, we took them outside to walk around and take sunset photos. We found the most beautifully lit patio near The Riley building, which made a romantic bokeh behind the couple for their portraits. I love these motion blurred, slow shutter speed photos as well. Finally, it seemed like the adrenaline was finally wearing off, and Sara and Jackson got to enjoy a few calm, relaxing moments away from the party.

Celebrating Love and Culture at The Riley Building

Sara and Jackson’s wedding was a beautiful fusion of Mexican and American cultures, creating a rich tapestry of traditions that honored their heritage. From the lively mariachi band that played during the cocktail hour to the delicious fusion cuisine served at dinner, every detail was a nod to their backgrounds. The couple’s families came together to celebrate their union, creating an atmosphere of warmth, love, and joy. Thankfully, the dance floor was alive with energy as guests danced to a mix of traditional and contemporary music, showcasing the best of both cultures.

Congratulations, Sara and Jackson!!
