Welcome in. This is the place where I share wedding recaps and inspiration, engagement session ideas, and a little glimpse into the life of a wedding photographer and mom. I hope you enjoy reading and seeing ALL the pretty!
(We are not sponsored by Shiner. Okay, maybe we’re sponsored by Shiner.)
I recently got the opportunity to shoot Kennedy and Bryce’s engagement session at the soon-to-be-completed wedding venue, The Videre Estate! When it was time to start planning their engagement session, I got word from Sweet Magnolia Events that they decided to shoot at The Videre. The what now? I googled with no luck. I had no idea what this place was. Finally, I swallowed my pride and just asked. Turns out, it’s a wedding venue in Wimberley that is currently being built! I believe they’re opening their doors in Spring 2023, and I can’t wait to see the completed space! I looked at a few of their plans and it has potential to be such a wonderful venue, be on the lookout for it soon!
Since The Videre was very much still being built when we shot this engagement session, we got a little creative and explored the grounds surrounding it. We were shown around and said we could get in a canoe on the water… yes please! Kennedy, Bryce, and their fur baby Frio were such good sports as we checked out some less-traveled areas.
I told them that some couples like to bring champagne to pop, and they’re welcome to do that if they’d like. They aren’t really champagne people, so they brought a six pack of Shiner along, which I loved! Please, if something doesn’t fit your personality, I always encourage you to incorporate something that does.
I also played around towards the end and tried to create a fake sunset look. There are a couple of photos towards the end of this blog, where they’re sitting on a bench, that have “sunbeams” coming through. This is actually a flash set up just outside of frame behind them! Always fun to try some offbeat techniques at engagement sessions.
